The client featured in this case study is an international luxury hotel chain that has over 150 resorts world-wide.

Our Challenge

Twenty months after a new 250,000 sq.ft hotel was completed in the mid-west region of the United States, this hospitality client contacted the builder of the facility and requested a review of the building’s HVAC system, specific to the hotel’s humidity controls. The client was concerned that the HVAC system was at fault and the problems could not be resolved without a significant additional expense. The builder recommended deploying our Kaizen Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD) software that would transparently verify the HVAC systems’ functional performance and address the hospitality client’s concerns.

Our Solution

Our software, Kaizen FDD, was connected directly to the Building Automation System (BAS) to collect performance data and provide an independent analysis of how the environmental systems were operating. Using a combination of artificial intelligence-driven algorithms and machine learning, Kaizen FDD analyzed the data and delivered actionable insights into specific recommendations that would address the current concerns.

Our Results

Kaizen FDD was able to provide 100% transparency to the builder and the hospitality client into how the systems were performing. Kaizen then delivered actionable insights that were implemented and eliminated the various issues that had been occurring. During the process, Kaizen also identified issues with a chiller that the client was not aware of, allowing the client to take immediate action on an issue that could have gone unnoticed for quite some time.

Kaizen identified relatively simple and low/nocost measures that enabled the HVAC system to function better, eliminating the client’s concerns. This intangible value fostered the builder’s client relationship and helped them avoid any potential post-project re-work and associated costs. Kaizen is a valuable tool providing 100% transparency into the operations of the BAS. The client was also able to achieve savings of over $15,000/year by taking immediate action on the issue with their chiller.
